Made me about 70% better for a day after taking for 2 days. 100% raw cocoa - not chocolate. Positive Effect is intermittent. Have tried 3 brands: Bakers 100%, swansons raw cacao capsules and 100% raw cocoa from india. All of them work somewhat. Have tried taking 45 grams per day in 3 divided doses. Well worth trying.

I've discovered that it matters how I take it. Hot chocolate was only a little bit helpful, but if I take it in the following way, it stops me from crashing:

1 generous teaspoon cocoa powder
1 generous teaspoon honey
A pinch of ground ginger

I mix this together to make a paste and eat it off the spoon before meals.

40g daily of darkest chocolate gave initial energy burst but after a few days this dropped off

I get an odd headache with chocolate since I've been ill. It's really unpleasant, but chocolate is something I've had a hard time giving up. A tiny piece doesn't usually bother me, but more definitely does.

happy but too stimulated for an hour –> brain and muscle exhaustion for rest of the day
similar effect with coffee and stimulating herbs like ginseng

When I eat dark chocolate without sugar, I get horribly sleepy within about 30 minutes. So much that I just fall asleep even when I am sitting upright. I have this same thing with eggs.
The sleepiness and fogginess does not go away for hours. It resembles a diabetic sort of reaction, but there was no sugar. I wonder if it is the tryptophan or some type of allergy or intollerance. Its horrible though, and only happens with dark chocolate. A piece as big as a sugarcube is already enough for this effect.
