I take it when I hope to sleep. I do not think it harms me, and after a period of no sleep, I use melatonin along with two prescription drugs to get sleep with dreams. I still wake often during sleep, but I can sleep, which is way better than what my body had done to me, which was no sleep at all for days, then a collapse with sleep that did not include all the normal stages of sleep. I take the melatonin on the doctor's advice

Melatonin helps me a lot, but not for CFS/ME so I said "a bit." It is invaluable for helping me get to sleep at a reasonable hour.

It made no difference. Melatonin helps you fall asleep but I had trouble going back to sleep after waking up in the middle of the night. Melatonin was of no use, but Magnesium was a great help (see magnesium).

Melatonin made me feel drugged in the am, even at 0.5 mg.

When I take it for the night, I will feel sleepy and foggy the day after.

Caused sever stomach discomfort nausea and exacerbated all symptoms. I since found out a lower dose may have been alright!
